Typically, tower owners who are faced with the possibility of a cell tower sale do the same thing - contact the public tower company operators to see if they would like to purchase the tower. The smaller "mom and pop" tower operators who own 1-10 towers, don't usually have much experience in the area of cell tower sales. Sometimes, they simply go back to the company to whom they previously sold towers to see what they will offer, ignoring investment banks or smaller tower companies that may be in full acquisition mode.
